Webcam Klein Curaçao

Klein Curaçao, also known as Klein Corsou in Papiamentu, is a small, uninhabited island located off the coast of Curaçao.The island belongs to Curaçao and is the real meaning of the little star. With an area of 1.7 square kilometers, it is located about ten kilometers southeast of Curaçao. This barren rocky island serves as a breeding ground for several species, including the American pygmy tern, hawksbill and green turtle. There is also an introduced population of striped anoles (Anolis lineatus) on the island.

On Klein Curaçao are the remains of two lighthouses, a quarantine building and some fishing huts. In addition, graves are located along the northwest coast and to the south, and there are two freshwater wells. The waters around the island offer excellent opportunities for diving and snorkeling. Day trips to Klein Curaçao are organized, with facilities placed on the southwest coast to provide shade for visitors.

On the island's eastern coast lies the rusty wreck of the oil tanker Maria Bianca Guidesman, which ran aground in 1982. During the time, other ships also ran aground, including the German HAPAG motor ship Magdalena in 1934. After several weeks, this ship was painstakingly pulled loose with the help of a large number of tugs.
